Screen Shot 2014-11-18 at 6.04.59 PMI know I have beat the doors off of the Rose train and you are either on it with me or you are not. I do want to make a slight case that Rose wine is good year around. Sometimes, it is the middle of the day on your day off in the winter and you do not plan on going anywhere but you do not want to get trashed. A Rose is great for that.

Maybe it is Thanksgiving and your really want to try something different with your turkey that will be pleasing to the crowd. Rose is for that. It could be that you are at a Christmas party and everyone bundled up but the close quartered house is getting to stuffy. Rose if for that too.

This brings me to the 2012 Chateau De Sours Bordeaux Rose, which was applicable to the first example. Just a day off and not going anywhere while wanting a red wine later that evening. This wine is a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc according to the back of the bottle.

The website has the new vintage of 2013 Chateau De Sours Bordeaux Rose so what I will give you is the back of the bottle:

Made from beautifully ripe and luscious Merlot and balanced nicely by a little Cabernet Franc, this wine displays all of its usual hallmark characteristics. It is a pale but vivacious strawberry rose colour with gentle nose of fine, clean and intense fresh fruit flavours, which after a little air develops further aromas of grapefruit, raspberry, and some delicate mineral characteristics. On the palate it shows  the same enticing register of complex red summer fruits, with hints of bubblegum and mouth-watering strawberries and cream. It is surprisingly full and rich, but balanced by a lovely refreshing acidity and a long dry finish.

And, someone with the initials AW said this is probably the best rose in the world. Okay, that has to be one of the most elaborate writings of a wine that I have ever seen. I mean it’s not like this is a complex Bordeaux blend but okay.

Color – Steel Orange.

Nose – Apricots and grapefruit with some minerality.

Taste – Minerality shines through with strawberries and raspberries.

Finish – Very dry with medium acid.

Overall, besides how full of shit this person who wrote the back of the bottle is, this is a very good rose. I do not know where they get bubble gum and cream with the strawberries. It is a pretty dry rose. One of the most dry I have had and cream doesn’t come to mind when I say dry. Regardless of all of that this is a good rose. Not my most favorite but still very decent.
