When I first think of Muscat, I think Moscato which a lot of the wines are made from the Muscadine grape. For a very short while, we were members of Early Mountain Vineyard’s wine club. Due to some of the restrictions and already being a member of plenty of wine clubs, we decide to cancel. On the last shipment, I received the 2013 Early Mountain Vintner’s Select Muscat and I was a little worried to try. I was expecting light and fruity with lots of sugar.
Sadly, they do not list this on their website. I do not know if they still have it and if they do, you have to be a wine club member to get it anyways. So this post is going to be a lot shorter than the others.
Color – Light Golden Yellow
Nose – Honey, Pear, with a lot of Grapefruit and blood Orange.
Taste – Cucumber, Pear, Citrus and Lemon.
Finish – Off-dry, slightly acidic, with a clean Finish.
Overall, I was blown away by this wine. It isn’t completely dry but it only has a very small touch of residual sugar. It has bold complex flavors and was really amazing. I do not normally have Muscat wine, but this is definitely the best I have ever had. If you go and join the wine club and they have this wine available, you must buy a bottle or two!
