This will be a quick review, partially because I already gave the story previously when I reviewed their Syrah here. But for those who do not know I have had a love-hate relationship with NakedWines and this is one of the few that have been pretty good. The short story is that the winemakers are from New Zealand and they recently had a trip to California where they made these two wines. This brings us to the 2012 Small and Small California Red Blend.
According to the Naked Wines website, 79% of the customers would buy it again. It also doesn’t state what is in the blend. If you scroll down and read some of the replies by the winemaker he says mostly Zin(fandel) and Syrah. Not sure but here we go…
Color – Reddish purple
Nose – Light in aroma with hints of raspberry and pomegranate with just a touch of leather.
Taste – Silky texture. Medium to light-bodied. I get some light black cherry but mostly raspberry tart.
Finish – Medium finish that doesn’t linger too long.
Overall, good everyday wine. It is pretty light and uncomplicated. It does have a silky smooth texture that fits it nicely.
